Youth Connections is based on the Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs ‘youth to work’ strategy, working with young Aucklanders to ensure they have a plan and direction for their future that connects to the workforce requirements of local businesses.

Auckland Council pledges to increase our graduate programme from 17 young people this year to 50 in 2015. We also pledge to have 20 cadets in our cadetship programme in 2015. This year we have had 10. Auckland Council is committed to building robust, long-term programmes which will provide Auckland’s youth with the qualifications, experience, support and networks they need to start a fulfilling career. We are taking a customer-centric approach to designing our programmes to ensure they deliver for our young people and our organisation – for many years to come Our programmes will be of the highest standard with rotations, mentors, coaches, learning and development plans and networking opportunities to provide a positive experience for everyone on our programmes and greatly improve their prospects/ Auckland Council has a focus on diversity and inclusion, in particular with Maori and Pasifika.
