At the 2018 LGNZ conference in Christchurch, MTFJ and central government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to signal the parties joint intention to create better employment outcomes for young people in New Zealand.
The MoU is between MTFJ and the Minister of Local Government, the Minister of Employment, the Minister for Building and Construction and the Minister for Youth.
Both parties are looking to create better employment outcomes for young people in New Zealand.
The MoU sets out the relationship through which they will collaborate to do so, and the areas of work they will focus on.
Initially both parties will be focusing on the areas of: education, rangatahi mentoring, driver licensing and health.
